Queensland Citizens draws to the attention of the House the financial and practical difficulties of constructing and maintaining Kin Kin Road to a sustainable satisfactory standard to cater for use by projected large numbers of heavily laden quarry trucks along with normal traffic flow.

Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to instruct the Minister for Transport and Main Roads to commission a full impact assessment regarding local State Government controlled roads which will be used by the Neilsen Group as the haulage route between their Kin Kin Quarry and the Bruce Highway. We further petition that this appraisal include a complete evaluation of any costs which are likely to be incurred by the Queensland State Government in upgrading these roads to a satisfactory standard, in accordance with the Queensland Road Planning and Design Manual for safe roads, and maintaining that standard for the lifespan of the quarry.
