Queensland residents draws to the attention of the House the situation of the flooding in Bundaberg. This event has been devastating to the local community and urgent action is required. While we note that the Port of Bundaberg is dredging the river to allow the important sugar industry to resume operations, more must be done. Historically, ships could unload at Quay Street, but the river has silted since that time.

Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to urgently conduct a study to dredge, or otherwise, the Burnett River which is heavily silted, as a matter of urgency, as a flood mitigation strategy to assist in preventing a repeat of the tragic flooding of 2013.
