The petition of residents of Tablelands Regional Council local government area wish to draw to the attention of the House the difficulties for service delivery and representation created by the current divisional boundaries - specifically the placement of Watsonville, Walsh River and Irvinebank communities in Division 1.

Watsonville, Irvinebank and Walsh River townships are currently in Division 1 which also covers Dimbulah, Mutchilba, Chillagoe and Julatten.  The major road to Irvinebank comes from Herberton, which is in Division 2 and the three townships are logistically and geographically closer to Herberton, Atherton and Ravenshoe.  The realignment of Division 1 and Division 2 boundaries would make service delivery and representation manageable.

Your petitioners, therefore, request the House that the residents of the Walsh River, Watsonville and Irvinebank communities call on the State Government to redraw the divisional boundaries of the Tablelands Regional Council to move the Walsh River, Watsonville and Irvinebank towns into Division 2.
