TO: The Honourable the Speaker and Members of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland

The petition of electors of the Division of Ipswich West draws to the attention of the House the concerns of residents about mining exploration activity on or near their land.

Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to conduct a review of the way in which exploration permits for mining exploration are executed.  Recently the current method has caused great concern and anguish among local residents, who need reassurance about the potential for mining exploration activity on their property.  Residents have a right to know the intentions of mining exploration in their area, and these intentions need to be made clear as early as possible, so public comment can be sought.
