The petition of electors of the Division of Gregory draws to the attention of the House the recent outrageous decision by Sunwater to impose closing times on the recreational use of the Fairbairn Dam and picnic area. The proposed closing times restrict the use of the dam in summer when there is still enough light for safe recreational boating, relaxation and barbeque dinners. With so few family friendly recreational areas within close proximity to Emerald, we are very angry that once again the majority of law abiding citizens who use the facility for their family's enjoyment are punished because of what Sunwater describes as the actions of a minor few.

Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to rescind the decision by Sunwater to restrict access and use of the Fairbairn Dam and its facilities, so that everyone has the opportunity to enjoy a wonderful public asset at their leisure.
