The petition of residents of Hope Vale and environs in the State of Queensland, electors of the Division of Cook, draw to the attention of the House the condition of the road between Cooktown and Hope Vale - Endeavour Valley Road. We are an indigenous community with significant tourism, farming and business potential.  The road is our only link to medical, air and educational facilities and essential needs and services.  It is an extremely hazardous and unsafe road, poorly maintained with heavy commuter and tourist traffic.

This is a State main road and your petitioners therefore request the House to upgrade the remaining 13 kms of Endeavour Valley Road to an all weather road ie bitumen sealed.
