The petition of residents of the State of Queensland draws to the attention of the House Translink's new train timetable planned for early 2011.  This timetable proposes to alter the Nambour and Caboolture line services.  The changes would add significant time to an already long commute - for example, Nambour commuters debarking at Central station would spend close to an extra four hours commuting every week.  This would affect up to 2000 passengers daily.  This may discourage people from using public transport, which would aggravate the already-dense south-bound peak hour traffic.  Another side effect would be to cause Brisbane workers to remain or relocate closer to Brisbane, which would exacerbate the current population density problems in the area.  Other concerns include added pressures on work-life balance, productivity and making Brisbane a less attractive option for skilled workers who do not live locally, thus narrowing the talent pool available to the State's capital city.

Your petitioners therefore request the House to have the current services preserved.
