This is a petition of the citizens of south-west Queensland, music teachers, tutors and music students of Queensland.  We would like to voice our support for the South-West Priority Country Area Program's (PCAP) music program.  The current model that is operating in the South-West has been proven over more than 30 years to be an excellent method of providing musical education to the youth and all citizens of these remote and often disadvantaged country towns in both State and Catholic schools.  This is a vital service to the youth of South-West Queensland without which there would be little or no music lessons available.  There is little enough for young people to do in country areas without also depriving them of the chance to learn an instrument.

Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to retain the South-West Priority Country Area Program in its current form.
