TO: The Honourable the Speaker and Members of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland
The petition of citizens of Queensland draws to the attention of the House that grandparents who raise grandchildren rather than allow them to become a burden on (and responsibility of) the State do not receive the same support as the State affords foster parents.
Your petitioners therefore request the House to amend legislation so that grandparents raising grandchildren are afforded the same level of support by the State as the State provides to foster parents.
