The petition of residents of the State of Queensland draws to the attention of the House and hereby request that the Queensland Government's Green Queensland promises stated on their website, be implemented as a priority for protection of the unique flora and fauna habitat in the Eerwah Vale and Ridgewood area.  The Queensland Government recognises that Queensland is home to 80% of Australia's native birds, 70% of its native mammals and just over half of its reptiles and frogs.  Anna Bligh states on this same website that: this inheritance of wildlife carries with it a responsibility to protect and preserve it.  As Queensland grows we must hold onto the land for natural habitat and green spaces; our unique lifestyle depends on it.  We need to take action today to keep Queensland green and preserve space to breathe in our communities protecting green space as part of regional planning processes throughout the State.

Your petitioners therefore request the House to protect this area as promised.
