Queensland residents draws to the attention of the House that the closure of Swanbank "B" powerstation would affect the continuity of supply to the south east region, would lead to higher electricity prices and would cause job losses, not only at the station itself but at local businesses whose services are supported by the station.

Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to refurbish Swanbank "B" powerstation for the above reasons, and because the cost of refurbishment is a fraction of the cost to taxpayers that building a new generating plant would be.
