TO: The Honourable the Speaker and Members of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland
Queensland residents draws to the attention of the House the proposal by the State Government to sell the former health facility known as the Riverton Centre located at 58 Riverton Street Clayfield in the State of Queensland and the potential for redevelopment of the site to severely reduce the local amenity due to increased traffic, parking and incompatible scale and density.Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to gift the subject land to the Brisbane City Council for use as open space and park given the lack of nearby local community open space.Ensure that on the sale of the subject land (in the event that Government will not gift it to the Brisbane City Council) that an enforceable covenant is included in the sale to ensure any subsequent use and development of the site be only for low density residential development under the terms of the Brisbane City Council City Plan for the locality (including any character housing requirements).Oppose the sale of the subject land to any party for the purpose of development not in accordance with the low density residential designation in the Brisbane City Council City Plan.
