TO: The Honourable the Speaker and Members of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland
The petition of citizens of Queensland draws to the attention of the House to reports in the media about the cutting of at least 60 stalls from the West End Community Market on the basis of a State Government Recommendation. This will cause the unnecessary job losses of at least ninety people. This will cut income to stall holders who are often struggling financially and cause financial hardship to their families and suppliers. Your petitioners therefore request the House to review the State Government recommendations to the Brisbane City Council so as to avoid job losses at the West End Community Markets and maintain this important tourist attraction and the enterprises it supports.
