TO: The Honourable the Speaker and Members of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland
The petition of the residents of the State of Queensland draws to the attention of the House: Having seen the efforts of the Members to conserve, recycle and find alternative sources of potable water, we wish them to apply a similar commitment to the reduction of energy use. This action would reduce the probability of blackouts, the massive costs of new power stations and other infrastructure, production of greenhouse gases and cost to consumers. Your petitioners therefore request the House to institute an Energywise scheme [c.f the Waterwise scheme] to educate and encourage the public to reduce their energy usage with minimal impact on the standard.
