TO: The Honourable the Speaker and Members of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland

Queensland residents draws to the attention of the House the urgent need to fast track the construction of a Police Citizens Youth Club (PCYC) for the community of Pimpama-Ormeau-Coomera. The statistics show that the Pimpama-Ormeau-Coomera area is the fastest growing region in Australia with an explosion in the population from 22,500 people in 2013 to 84,000 people in 2021 and it is still growing.

This Pimpama-Ormeau-Coomera area has a youth population under the age of 15 of more than 27% - around 50% higher than any region anywhere in Queensland. Even the broader City of Gold Coast under 15 population is just 18.3%.

The target demographic for PCYC Queensland is our youth, up to age 24. Over 40% of the Pimpama-Ormeau-Coomera population is in this age group.

The call for a PCYC in the Ormeau-Pimpama-Coomera region has broad community support including, the City of Gold Coast, Police, Educators, local community groups such as the Rotary Club of Ormeau-Pimpama and local residents.

Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to do all in its power to ensure the construction of a PCYC in Pimpama-Ormeau-Coomera, as a matter of urgency.
