Queensland residents draws to the attention of the House the need to reduce the speed limit 100 kph to 80 kph from Bells Bridge intersection to Atkinson Road, Curra on the Bruce Highway, Queensland. There was recently a four vehicle collision at this site which resulted in the hospitalisation of some vehicle occupants. This is a very busy service station and has many vehicles taking risks to merge onto the Bruce Highway. The problem has seen many other similar incidents further south at the Purcell Drive and Bruce Highway intersection.

Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to take all actions necessary to ensure that the Department of Transport and Main Roads investigate the numerous accidents and near misses from Bells Bridge intersection, including Purcell Drive, Kirsten Drive, Quarry turn off, David Drive and Atkinson Road on the Bruce Highway, Curra, Queensland and reduce the speed limit from 100 kph to 80 kph around the site.
