Queensland citizens draws to the attention of the House that the current vaccines for Covid-19 available in Australia have provisional approval, the decisions have been made on the basis of short term efficacy and safety data. Continued approval is dependent upon the evidence of longer-term efficacy and safety from ongoing clinical trials and post-market assessment. Long-term side effects, if any, have not been established and the current side effects are still being evaluated. It is a legal obligation that all receivers of any vaccine need to make a decision based on informed consent.

Informed consent is a person’s decision, given voluntarily, to agree to a healthcare treatment, procedure or other intervention that is made when a person or guardian has adequate knowledge and understanding of the benefits and all material risks of the proposed intervention relevant to the person who would be having the treatment, procedure or other intervention.

Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to do all in its power to ensure:

  • that all known, suspected and future potential side-affects with current and future vaccines with provisional approval, is supplied to all prospective patients;
  • that a full comprehensive public register be established that provides detailed data on adverse events from vaccines and follow-up data on every patient who has taken a vaccine and passes away within 6 weeks of the vaccination.

Your petitioners also request that information regarding all alternative preventative options is made available when they have shown successful results at the first trial period.
