As part of its oversight functions, the committee will hold a public hearing with the Queensland Ombudsman on 30 March 2020 from 9:00am – 9:45am.

Overview
Under the Ombudsman Act 2011, the committee's functions are to:
- monitor and review the performance by the Ombudsman of its functions;
- report to the Assembly on any matter concerning the Ombudsman, its functions or the performance of its functions that the committee considers should be drawn to the Assembly's attention;
- examine each annual report tabled in the Assembly under the Act and, if appropriate, to comment about any aspect of the report;
- report to the Assembly any changes to the functions, structures and procedures of the office of the Ombudsman the committee considers desirable for the more effective operation of the Act.
