A number of historic reforms to the Queensland Parliament’s committee system and legislative process were agreed to with bipartisan support recently.

These reforms have seen the establishment of a new system of portfolio-based committees that will have powers to examine Bills introduced into the Parliament.

The reforms originate from a review of the parliamentary committee system by the Parliament’s Committee System Review Committee, which reported in December 2010.
