TO: The Honourable the Speaker and Members of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland
The petition of residents of the State of Queensland draws the attention of the House to the proposed Mareeba Shire Planning Scheme (Myola Zone) that will threaten environmental, scenic and lifestyle values in the area by allowing urban development for up to 11,000 residents. Your petitioners therefore request the House to call on the Minister for Infrastructure and Planning to: (1) not allow the Mareeba Shire Planning Scheme (Myola Zone) to proceed (2) require the 2025 Regional Planning Process to review settlement patterns in the Myola area to ensure consistency with its environmental significance (3) ensure the area's important environmental values are preserved when determining the future of the area (4) retain the existing rural and rural residential character of the Myola area.
