This Petition draws your attention of the house the present situation in which qualified natural healing practitioners are not recognised by the Australian public health system and are unable to work alongside conventional medical practitioners. This limits patient access to the best possible outcome, as entire fields of care are denied to them especially in regard to access to medical insurance coverage for these types of care. Your petitioners therefore request relevant laws be changed to allow qualified natural healing practitioners, in fields such as herbalism, naturopathy, therapeutic massage, acupuncture, kinesiology and Feng Shui, to be recognised and covered under health insurance policies including under Medicare, so they may practice in the same manner as traditional medical professionals.
