This Petition of the residents of Queensland draws to the attention of the house the current crisis in providing appropriate care from Doctors and Nurses in the Public Hospital system. In particular, rules which stop a patient's own G.P. from attending them in a public hospital, and the lack of care, respect and responsibility from nurses trained at University. This is made worse by a lack of sufficient nurses in wards. Your petitioners therefore request the house change relevant rules so that a patient's own G.P. is able to attend them in public hospital. In regard to nursing, that ward based training be re-introduced for nurses. Further that the position of Matron be reintroduced with this person to support doctors, watch over nurses in training, and ensure patients receive the care that Doctors prescribe. Nurses in ward-based training would also help address the present severe shortage of nurses in wards.
