This Petition of the citizens of Queensland draws to the attention of the House, the current Law of Traditional Fishing Rights of Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islands, which gives Exemption from the Queensland Fishing Act. Your Petitioners therefore request the House to • Change the law so that gill nets are a tool for commercial fisherman only. • To ensure there is no possibility of commercialization by people involved in this practice. • To ensure that all Queenslanders are equal, and are all governed by the Queensland Fishing Act no matter what colour or nationality.
