The Petition of the citizens of Queensland draws to the attention of the house that the Kirrama Range Road is in a state of disrepair making it unsafe particularly during the wet weather which has been consistent since Cyclone Larry devastated the area. The cyclone has also contributed to the accelerated deterioration of the road. Your petitioners therefore request the House to upgrade the Kirrama Range Road to an acceptable standard to allow general traffic to utilise the road in view of the fact that it is an intricate link to the hinterland and the many attributes of Girringun National Park. The cost of maintenance of the road is too prohibitive for the local authority and as it is part of the Murray Upper National Park, lies within the responsibility of the State Government.
