This Petition of residents of Queensland draws to the attention of the House the dangers posed by the one-lane, wooden bridge on the Peninsula Development Road at Rifle Creek on the outskirts of Mt Molloy. There is an increasing amount of local tourist and heavy transport traffic travelling to and from Cape York. Poor visability on the approaches contributes to traffic frequently failing to slow down or give way. There are frequent, regular near-misses. It is only a matter of time before there is a tragedy. Your Petitioners therefore request the House to direct the urgent rebuilding of this bridge to two-lane standard with the approaches also rebuilt to enhance the safety of all road users.
