Queensland residents draws to the attention of the House the danger posed by slingshots which are currently legally available for sale in Queensland. Some slingshots currently on sale claim to be able to fire a ball bearing at up to 200km/h at a range of up to 160m. Slingshots clearly pose a threat to public safety as well as being a tool used by vandals to damage public and private property. Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to implement legislation to bring Queensland in line with other Australian states and ban the sale and possession of slingshots.
