Queensland residents draws to the attention of the House that Queensland should prevent irresponsible drinkers from drinking alcoholic beverages rather than taking their driver’s licences and in many cases their jobs away. Where alcohol is the cause of domestic problems we should take away the drink instead of taking away the spouse and/or the children. Your petitioners therefore request the House to issue licences to purchase and possess alcoholic beverages to anyone over 18 years who wants one (QT already issues 18+ photo IDs) and legislate to prevent anyone purchasing or possessing alcoholic beverages without a licence. If someone is convicted of drink driving then their alcoholic beverage licence could be suspended for a period of time. The same approach could be used with domestic violence, etc.
