TO: The Honourable the Speaker and Members of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland

Queensland residents draws to the attention of the House the need to review the legislated requirements regarding local carriageway width. In particular within new housing developments. With the growing number of occupants living at a single address and the increasing number of motor vehicles residing at these locations, our local streets are becoming clogged with parked vehicles narrowing carriageways. With vehicles parking on either side of narrow carriageways they are causing impediments to traversing vehicles. This is not to mention the impediments to wider vehicles, such as emergency vehicles, that cannot access streets due to parked residents reducing response times.

Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to review current legislation and planning to address these concerns.
