The petition of residents of Queensland draws to the attention of the House the safety concerns of the community in relation to the current crime epidemic in Ayr. We request that the State Government work proactively with all stakeholders towards a solution to this problem which addresses the current deficiencies with the juvenile justice system.

The high incidence of offences in the Ayr area and the escalating crime figures are causing significant concern across the community. Families are frightened, the community is frustrated and they do not feel safe in their own homes. Months of pleading with the Government to take action have failed to achieve the desired outcome and residents continue to be subjected to criminal activity. A solution needs to be found urgently and justice reform undertaken.

Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to listen to the people of Ayr and take positive steps to action proper solutions to this wave of crime.
