The petition of residents of the State of Queensland draws to the attention of the House that the Department of Agriculture and Fisheries, DAF public consultation process concerning the future of the Heritage listed Jimna Fire Tower has been grossly compromised within their recommendations to the Minister, in that DAF freely admits in those documents that they were never in a position to consider all sides of the debate, in particular a tourism solution for the tower. We draw reference to DAF's admittance that tourism is not quote "part of their core business" unquote.

Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to review DAF's grossly biased decision to deconstruct this national icon, to intervene, and to appoint an independent body who has the mandate to fairly consider all submissions put to the Jimna Fire Tower public consultation process.
