The petition of residents of the State of Queensland draws to the attention of the House the urgent need for dredging of One Mile Creek. One Mile Creek near Cardwell, North Queensland provides a vital boating access to and from the ocean and the Hinchinbrook Channel at the northern end. The Cassowary Coast Regional Council owns a first class trailer boat ramp and parking facility on One Mile Creek allowing boat owners to access the channel and the ocean. The Volunteer Coast Guard has a monitoring facility and rescue boat relying upon all tide access during emergency situations. The creek is currently full of mud, and needs urgent dredging. A large portion of One Mile Creek has been identified as being public assets under the Coastal Protection and Management Act 1995. The humble petitioners listed below call upon the Honourable Premier of Queensland Annastacia Palaszczuk, her government and the Cassowary Coast Regional Council to urgently address the dredging of One Mile Creek.

Your petitioners therefore request the House to urgently address the dredging of One Mile Creek.
