The petition of residents of the State of Queensland draws to the attention of the House the risk to human health, property damage and environmental hazards created by the ongoing presence of flying fox colonies in urban areas and the barriers created by the Queensland Government in the management and removal of these colonies.

Your petitioners therefore request the House to direct the Minister for Environment and Heritage Protection to take full responsibility for the timely dispersal of Flying Fox colonies out of urban areas at any time of the year and regardless of breeding cycles.
