TO: The Honourable the Speaker and Members of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland

Queensland Residents draws to the attention of the House the urgent need to expand the Park n Ride facility at the Nudgee Train Station. Currently there are only 20 Park n Ride parking spaces provided. At only 13 kilometres from the CBD, Nudgee is growing substantially, increasing rail patronage and well exceeding capacity. In the past 6 years new developments have provided more than 500 new dwellings in Nudgee, many outside reasonable walking distance from the Station. The majority of new residents are younger working families with a need for safe access to public transport. Recent resident complaints have meant that the long-standing practice of illegally parking on the grass verge in Railway Street has now been stopped and local streets are filling with commuter parking. Unlike many other locations across Brisbane, QR owns over 3500 square metres of land adjoining the station.

Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to do all within its power to ensure that Queensland Rail increase the size of the Nudgee Train Station Park n Ride facility by making the vacant land adjacent to the station available for commuter parking as a matter of urgency.
