The petition of Queensland residents draws to the attention of the House the danger posed to people who ride bikes by the lack of safe, separated, easily accessed bicycle routes in the Moggill Road corridor, Chapel Hill. While Cubberla Creek Bikeway and Akuna Street Bikeways link to Moggill Road, crossing between them is cumbersome. They also do not provide direct access to desired locations and results in many cyclists choosing to stay on the main road.

This danger was tragically highlighted by the recent fatality on February 17, 2017, which followed a previous fatality in 2011.

Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to call upon the Queensland Government to:

• provide a direct link between the Cubberla Creek Bikeway and Akuna Street Bikeway on either side of Moggill Road, Chapel Hill;
• provide ramp access to the Moggill Road service road after Boblynne Street, rejoining at the Chapel Hill Road intersection; and
• provide safe, separated cycling infrastructure on Moggill Road in line with its designation as a Principal Route in the South East Queensland Principal Cycle Network Plan.
