The petition of citizens of the State of Queensland draws to the attention of the House the speed limit on Flaxton Drive between Mapleton and Montville, which was recently reduced to 60 kph. There are no passing lanes along the entire length of this road. The new speed limit is unsafe and frustrating for drivers, as with a maximum of 60 kph, some tourists now travel at 30 kph. We believe the low speed limit will actually lead to accidents as people seek to pass slow moving vehicles.

Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to instruct the speed limit be lifted back to between 70 and 80 as it was prior to the recent reduction.
