TO: The Honourable the Speaker and Members of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland

Queensland residents draws to the attention of the House, the continual issue of juveniles out on the streets of Townsville causing havoc and committing crimes against the residents, ranging from, but not excluded to assault, break and enter, and vehicle theft.

 

Your petitioners, therefore, request the House that a street curfew be placed on juveniles in the Townsville area, who are 16 years of age and under, between the hours of 11pm and 5am unless accompanied by an adult/parent/guardian, or have a valid reason. Exceptions along the lines of: child of working age, going to and from work; child granted permission to attend movies, friend's place etc and waiting for pickup by an adult or travelling directly from point A to point B.
