TO: The Honourable the Speaker and Members of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland

Queensland Residents draws to the attention of the House the speech in Parliament on the 21st April 2016 by Mr Rick Williams MP State Member for Pumicestone.  The descendants of the Original South Sea Islanders who were Black Birded and brought to these shores request a formal apology from the Queensland Government As stated in the closing paragraph of Mr Rick Williams MP State Member for Pumicestone speech:

“All of Queensland was built on the back of the blood, sweat and tears of these islanders. I say that no-one deserves the atrocity endured by these people. Nothing we can ever do will replace the loss suffered by them. As the state of Queensland we need to say that we are sorry.”

Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to take urgent action to achieve this long overdue outcome of a formal apology of the Queensland Government.
