Queensland residents draws to the attention of the House the significant loss of parking in Darra as a result of the major upgrade to the railway station in 2010. Two additional platforms and a new ticket office were built as part of the quadruplication of the line from Corinda to accommodate services for the Springfield line which has a junction with the main line west of the station. The supporting parking facilities were not upgraded to match the volume of passengers now parking in Darra.

Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to construct a new multilevel three story car park on the existing car park site in order to provide an improved parking situation for residents and ample parking for residents of surrounding suburbs wanting to use the public transport facilities available in the suburb.
