The petition of residents of the State of Queensland draws to the attention of the House the vital need for a comprehensive audit of Moreton Bay's natural resources and assets. Moreton Bay is a unique environment sharing its location and existence with Brisbane's nearly three million residents. Consequently there is a fragile balance between habitat, wildlife and people; the pivot point is habitat. If a balance and sustainable future for Moreton Bay is to be effective, the community needs to be informed and able to see and understand a holistic profile, for example:

1. Census of current condition which includes: -
a) Sea grass distribution and condition
b) Sediment condition and composition
c) pH and dissolved gas loading
d) Location and concentration of water-column nutrient levels
e) Temperature gradients
f) Feed water movement and condition from catchment areas
g) Waste accumulation
(Together with seasonal changes to all of the above)

2. Inclusive wildlife census which includes: -
a) Resident birds, sea creatures, amphibians, mammals, and including endangered species
b) Resident creature health profile

Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to conduct a comprehensive audit of Moreton Bay's natural resources and assets and make findings available to the general community in the form of accessible, accurate and understandable information
