The petition of residents of the State of Queensland draws to the attention of the House the Amendment of Key Resource Area (KRAs) and Transport Corridors (haulage routes) without community consultation and notification; specifically KRA83 and the associated Transport Corridor of McMullens Road, Russells Road and Pine Mountain Road. This KRA and associated Transport Corridor has undergone a number of amendments without community consultation and notification, and the final version is contrary to the community desires and the local Council's long term plans for an environmental recreation park in the area. An alternate route is available that has significantly less impact on both residents and the environment and was the proposed KRA that went out for public consultation and was approved by the local community.

Your petitioners therefore request the House to review:

  1. The process by which these amendments are made to ensure that due process is followed and community consultation is effective and transparent to the effected community at large.
  2. Rescind the revised KRA83 back to the proposed version dates February 2013, as this is the only version that underwent community consultation.
