TO: The Honourable the Speaker and Members of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland
Queensland Residents draws to the attention of the House that the Queensland Government proposes to introduce three net free areas located in the vicinity of:
• St Helens Beach to Cape Hillsborough;
• Keppel Bay to Fitzroy River; and
• Trinity Bay.
That these proposed net free areas are supported actions in the Reef 2050 Long-Term Sustainability Plan.
That net free fishing zones aim to develop recreational fishing opportunities in Queensland, thereby increasing tourism, investment and economic growth.
Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to support legislation or regulation that introduces the proposed net free fishing zones to Queensland waters.
