The petition of electors of the Division of Stretton draws to the attention of the House the need for the removal of bus stop 92, located directly outside shops on Beenleigh Road, Kuraby.

The bus route that uses stop 92, primarily the 554 bus, was re-routed a few years ago to adjoining and parallel streets to provide better access for residents using the service and free up very limited parking in front of the local shops.

However, Translink still uses the old route for the school bus routes (8026 and 8028), which service John Paul College. The 8028 bus stops outside the shops at 7.00 am and no students board the bus. The 8026 stops at the same shops at 3.55pm. So we now have two separate westbound bus stop 92, for two services, that are located approximately 50 metres apart.

Your petitioners, therefore, request that the school bus route is redirected to follow the 554 bus route and use the newer bus stop 92 located 50 metres away in Strathmore Street, Kuraby.
