Turning arrows are urgently needed at the Davidson Street and Bundaberg - Bargara Road intersection, Bargara, on both Davidson Street entrances to the intersection.

Queensland Citizens draw to the attention of the House: Local residents’ concern about the number of accidents, including a major one in December 2014, at the intersection of Davidson Street and Bundaberg-Bargara Road, Bargara. The traffic lights facing Davidson Street do not have turning arrows, and accidents and near misses are common due to poor visibility for traffic turning from Davidson Street onto Bargara Road.

The accident in December could have resulted in a fatality. Emergency workers took hours to cut one of the victims out of her vehicle, while the driver received very serious neck and back injuries.  Both victims are still enduring physical pain and emotional trauma caused by the collision and receiving ongoing medical treatment. Turning arrows are installed for Bundaberg-Bargara Road traffic turning into Davidson Street, but we urgently need them installed for Davidson Street traffic turning into Bundaberg-Bargara Road.

Your petitioners therefore request the House to: urgently arrange the installation of turning arrows for traffic turning from Davidson Street onto Bundaberg-Bargara Road, on both sides of the intersection.
