Queensland residents draws to the attention of the House that the Torquay State School P&C Association are petitioning to have a 6ft strong, secure fence built around the perimeter of the school for the safety of our children.  Torquay Road is an extremely busy road and main thoroughfare for traffic. There has been numerous incidents where cars have been hit and also many accidents on the corner of Tavistock Street and Torquay Road. Our concern is the day an accident occurs which involves a vehicle coming through our current fence and into our play areas in which our children play. Also we have had a number of break-ins where buildings were damaged and graffitied and a secure, strong fence will also deter this from happening.

Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to consider the fence for safety for students, staff and the school community.
