TO: The Honourable the Speaker and Members of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland

The petition of residents of the State of Queensland draws to the attention of the House that we consider the Whitsunday Regional Council to be incapable of performing its roles and responsibilities. We believe this is necessary as a result of the following.

1. Replacement of all senior experienced management with ineffective staff.

2. Publishing of misleading and inaccurate information.

3. Financial mismanagement and loss of financial control.

4. Unacceptable rate hikes and charges resulting from ineffective financial management.

5. Culture of councillor intimidation and toxic work environment.

6. Lack of any vision for the future of the Whitsunday Region.

Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to call upon the Minister for Local Government to appoint a Whitsunday Regional Council administrator until (1) local government elections are held; and (2) Whitsunday Regional Council senior management positions are occupied by high performing staff.
