TO: The Honourable the Speaker and Members of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland

Queensland residents draw to the attention of the House the sense of a lack of democratic representation for the smaller areas outside the Gladstone Precinct. Residents in the rural areas feel they have no representative on the Council who has the local knowledge and passion for their locality.  Therefore they feel disconnected from the local council process and firmly believe a divisional representative system, akin to the State and Federal electoral system, would serve democracy better.

Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to give serious consideration to changing Gladstone Regional Council from undivided to divided representation, along the lines of State and Federal governments.
