Electors of the Division of Broadwater draws to the attention of the House the increase in bus and truck use of Matthew Flinders Drive as a major thoroughfare. Since the inception of the changes in TransLink services on 20 January 2014, there have been two bus services diverted along Matthew Flinders Drive the 711 and 713.  These changes have caused an increase in heavy vehicle traffic and a thoroughfare for other buses en route to start their journeys.  Surfside buses are dropping passengers off onto the side of the road at non-existing bus stops resulting in safety hazards causing fumes and noise pollution.  Buses are unable to service residents along Matthew Flinders Drive due to the non-existence of bus stops.  Residents were not personally consulted or personally advised of the changes which implemented Matthew Flinders Drive on bus routes.

Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to refrain from installing any bus stops, change all bus routes to use an alternate thoroughfare, prohibit bus drivers from speeding and dropping passengers off onto residential driveways and green strips.
