TO: The Honourable the Speaker and Members of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland

Queensland residents draws to the attention of the House the significant safety issues associated with the roundabout located at New Settlement Road and Banyan Street, Narangba (within the Moreton Bay Regional Council area) and notes that the:

1. speed limit of 80km/h on new Settlement Road; and/or

2. the current design of the roundabout and/or the road approaches to the roundabout, may contribute to the high number of motor vehicle accidents at this roundabout.

Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to immediately call on the Queensland Government and the Moreton Bay Regional Council to:

1. in consultation with the community, investigate and recommend solutions addressing the significant safety issues associated with this roundabout.  Such solutions may include, but not be limited to, lowering the speed limit for this part of New Settlement Road, adding additional safety mechanisms such as Cable Barriers and/or adjusting the camber of the roundabout and the road approaches to the roundabout; and

2. provide funding to implement the recommended solutions as an urgent priority.
