The petition of residents of the State of Queensland draws to the attention of the House the lack of public transport for residents of the townships of Cooloola Cove and Tin Can Bay. These coastal communities have a large aging, disability and unemployment population and many residents no longer drive or do not own cars.  There is only one bus a day into Gympie and this causes problems for people who need to access medical and other facilities which are only found in Gympie.

Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to call upon the Department of Transport and Main Roads to provide at least one additional bus service per day from Cooloola Cove and Tin Can Bay into Gympie.
