Queensland residents draws to the attention of the House to the inappropriate and excessive remuneration increases awarded to councillors by the Local Government Remuneration and Discipline Tribunal.  Queensland councillors are paid four times more than their peers in NSW and Victoria.

Your petitioners, therefore, request the House to instruct the Local Government Remuneration and Discipline Tribunal to replace its mechanism for calculating councillor remuneration with one that delivers increases that are consistent with community expectation.
